When you sign up, you’ll receive a questionnaire about your book. It’s a bit of pre-homework to better familiarize yourself with the genre, how you fill a need in that category, and what you hope your readers will garner from your book.
At the start of each 90-minute session, we ‘ll discuss your “aha” moments or obstacles that have gotten in your way when you’re writing. Your chapters will be critiqued during each session.
The internet is full of writers and publishers, some are household names, some not, who advertise classes on how to write a book. The message they all have is: Writing a book is one of the best ways to introduce yourself and your story to the world.
However, how the information is delivered to you – from pre-recorded classes to short weekend writing sessions, matters. If too much is pushed at you over a short time, overwhelm will set in, and in the end, your efforts will be wasted. You’ll have so much on your plate that it’s likely that you’ll put your notebooks away and not open them again. That story you needed/wanted to tell will be forgotten.
The writing process is often solitary. Alone with your thoughts, research, and documentation, you must craft a manuscript that will inform, educate, or entertain your readers. Solitude provides focus, a necessary component when writing a book. However, it is not an asset when you get stuck and need other voices to catapult your storyline into the next chapter. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have other like-minded individuals to bounce ideas off of, or to uncover methods you may not have considered?
One way to accomplish this is through a book-writing workshop that helps you finesse your concept, introduces you to alternative ideas, unlocks your creativity, removes obstacles that prevent you from moving forward, and provides sound critiques of your story.
Robin is a seasoned writer with nearly 40 years of experience writing for small- and medium-sized companies and promoting entrepreneurs. She has authored three books (two non-fiction and one novel) and is currently working on her fourth book and second novel. In 2016, she created Author Your Book to help others experience a more enjoyable, stimulating, and successful transition when writing their books. Her clients span from the greater Los Angeles area to Texas, Colorado, and Georgia.
Author Your Book is intended to be a safe haven for sharing your “baby” with the world without feeling as if you don’t belong in a writer’s group. If you yearn for positive interaction, creative outlets, suggestions on how to improve your book’s structure, and to do it all with a group of like-minded people, then Author Your Book is for you!
Since venturing out on her own in 2005, Robin has provided companies and individuals with content for their websites, blogs, articles, ghostwriting, and more. Prior to that, she was a member of a corporate communications team, co-created a quarterly magazine for the energy industry, worked on a consumer magazine, and was a direct mail copywriter for a book publisher. She teaches authors how to define their ideal client, what voice and tone would work best for that audience, and how to best fulfill their expectations of your book.
Building a writers’ community is another part of Robin’s mission. As a life-long lover of books and how they transform us, she understands the hair-pulling frustration, foot-stomping, cuss-inspiring sentiment that is part of the process, and shares ways to overcome it with her authors.
As a participant in Author Your Book, you will be asked to share your concept for the book, why you are compelled to write it now, and how your story hook or slant is unique. Because Author Your Book promises confidentiality and a safe place to share your thoughts, you are asked not to repeat information brought to the table at any of our sessions. By working together and respecting each other’s creative and personal boundaries, you achieve your book goals in a timely manner and in a creative environment that promotes camaraderie and encourages fun.
Why not. Stop putting it off and sign up today for the Author Your Book workshops. Start on your personal journey toward authorship—all for $450. It’s small but wise investment in your story, your creativity, and your ability to share your story with the world. It’s one of the best experiences you’ll ever give to yourself.

“If there’s a book that you really want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” Great advice from a legendary writer.
